Art and design are the distinguishing marks of the house on Lake Corbara, which perfectly combines country architecture, fine furniture from the Mobili Ducrot factory in Palermo and Isabella Ducrot's Atelier.
"I realized repetition in patterns in the Western world are practical, ancillary to a narration. In Eastern countries, however, repetition becomes the grounds for the play. Through the repetition of a subject, I began to focus on trying to convey a meditative state of mind. This attitude has links to prayers. Isabella Ducrot
This statement by Isabella Ducrot tells us about the origin of her style, a recurrence of patterns and shapes bringing the art piece close to a contemplative thought and, in the end, to a prayer. The artworks came to life on precious, ancient and modern textiles, as well as other fragile materials such as paper, used for many of her installation.
The artworks exhibited in the Atelier were inspired by the scents, shapes and colours of the rose garden. The textiles soon became the subject of study and research.
Isabella Ducrot's collection of rare textiles, both antique and contemporary, initiated an artistic path of research that led her to favour these types of materials to create her works of art. The Atelier exhibits a series of paintings inspired by her time at Caselle.
Isabella Ducrot
Isabella Ducrot was born in Naples in 1931. During her travels, especially in the Far East, she became fascinated by the lively breath of textiles and developed a special interest in these materials from China, India, Turkey and all of Central Asia. Isabella Ducrot's works are numerous, such as the mosaic for the MetroNapoli project in the Vanvitelli station.
She also participated in the Venice Art Biennales in 1993 and 2011.
A rich selection of her artworks, focusing on Oriental philosophy, was exhibited at the National Gallery of Modern Art in Rome in 2014.
Mrs Ducrot is also the author of several essays such as Matassa Primordiale and La Stoffa a Quadri.

Ducrot Furniture
In 1902, Vittorio Ducrot took over the small furniture factory owned by his stepfather and turned it into an artisan atelier known as 'Studio Ducrot'. Over time it grew to become an industrial production company of Art Nouveau furniture, making furniture for important institutions and luxury hotels, such as Villa Igiea in Palermo and the Montecitorio Palace in Rome. Together with the architect Ernesto Basile and the Florios' patronage, Ducrot became Italy's largest furniture manufacturer. The famous motor ship Rex, and in particular the 1st class deck was built by Vittorio Ducrot and Vicky Ducrot made her first voyage on it when she was one year old.
